Almost 35,000 visitors and 1,440 exhibitors gathered at the international trade fair FachPack in Nuremberg, Germany this year. Among group and consumer packaging, solutions for the food industry clearly stood out. In Nuremberg, paperboard packaging tended to be preferred, unlike at similar packaging trade fairs, where plastics have recently been dominating. Food retailers are experiencing difficult times. There are many competitors and customers are often not able to orientate well in the offerings. How can be sales of complementary products boosted? We see cross-selling systems expanding, i.e. the presentation of the main product and related complementary products together. How can cross-selling be supported by coordinated design of packages and POS displays the THIMM Group, for instance, showcased at their stand.
