Plastic cushioning is often used in food packaging. Its nature may vary depending on the product protected. Most common manufacturing
processes include injection molding, blow molding, injection blow molding, compression molding, and welding. The thermoforming (vacuum forming) represents a cheaper alternative, used primarily in the production of simple food containers such as trays, molded containers, partitions and such. Trays are mainly used for ice creams, bakery products, cakes, etc. Partitions can be found in chocolate boxes, for instance. Another important segment where plastics are formed this way is making blisters for blister packs.
